I'm 63 With $1.5M. Can I Spend $10K a Month?

You’ve saved $1.5 million. Now comes the real test.

Can it produce $10,000 a month, or will that pace drain your portfolio?

Most retirees do not get a clear answer until it is too late.

The issue is not just how much you have. It is whether your portfolio was built to pay you, not just grow.

That difference can determine whether your money lasts decades or starts breaking down early.

Sequence of returns, taxes on withdrawals, healthcare costs, and whether the 4% rule still applies all play a role.

Fiduciary advisors created a breakdown showing what drives sustainable income and why the same $1.5M can produce very different outcomes.

If you have $1M or more invested, do not guess.

Hey Berliners!

Brancusi closes tonight. After today, 150 sculptures go back to Paris — over 300,000 people saw the Neue Nationalgalerie's biggest show since 2012. Last chance.

Then two, you won't get again soon. Wednesday evening the sun goes 85% dark over Berlin, low over the western horizon at sunset — the next German eclipse is in 2027 and a fifth as deep. And because eclipses only happen at new moon, that same night is the Perseid maximum under a completely dark sky.

Saturday, the Straße des 17. Juni becomes a sound system: Rave The Planet, 14:00–22:00, free, and legally a demonstration rather than a party. It's also the hottest day of the week at 34°C — take water with you.

📍 Special Event of the Week

🌑 The sun goes 85% dark on Wednesday, then the sky fills with meteors

From 19:15 the moon covers 85% of the sun over Berlin, peaking at 20:08. The sun sets at 20:38, still eclipsed – nowhere in Germany sees it finish.

Maximum comes with the sun only a few degrees up, west-northwest, so a clear horizon beats any equipment: Tempelhofer Feld, Drachenberg, Teufelsberg, and Viktoriapark. The next German partial is in August 2027 and only a fifth as deep.

Then it gets better. The same night is the Perseid maximum, and because eclipses only happen at a new moon, the sky afterwards is completely dark — a coincidence that won't repeat until 2045. Expect 50–70 meteors an hour away from streetlights and 20–30 at the city edge. Best after midnight, looking northeast.

Never look at the sun directly. The Bundesamt für Strahlenschutz recommends indirect projection — a pinhole in a card or a kitchen sieve. Otherwise certified glasses only, CE-marked to ISO 12312-2. Sunglasses, smoked glass and CDs are dangerous; binoculars or cameras without a solar filter can damage your eyes in seconds.

🔭 Or let someone else do the work, Lange Nacht der Astronomie · Zeiss-Großplanetarium · 17:00–01:00 · FREE ⭐
Live eclipse stream from 18:00; talks, kids' craft stations, and telescopes until 1am — Perseids from 22:00 and Saturn from 23:30. Dome shows need a free seat ticket, collected 30 minutes before.

🥘 The Main — Gendarmenmarkt · new

After a decade, the Titanic's Beef Grill Club has been gutted and rebuilt as The Main: French-leaning cooking from Paris-region chef David Creuzet, with a restaurant, bar and cigar lounge in one room. French onion soup, herb-crusted rack of lamb, Café de Paris steak, lobster Thermidor — and the old club's dry-aged steaks were kept on deliberately.

No cocktail list: five signature drinks, the Main Nr. 1–5. Separate entrance, so it doesn't behave like a hotel restaurant.
